The Rosettabis Asic for the Rosetta Space Mission

The paper presents an ASIC to be used in one of the instruments of Rosetta Lander – a spacecraft that will investigate properties of comet 46 P/Wirtanen nucleus. The Rosettabis chip integrates a number of analog and digital modules of densitometer and thermal conductivity measurement subsystems. In addition to chip architecture and design methodology some problems typical for space application of microelectronic circuit are discussed. The described ASIC has been manufactured via Europractice Multi Project Wafer Service. The tests performed on obtained samples proved it works as expected. The paper shows also how a mixed-mode electronic system can be easily integrated using ASIC solution and design approach based on standard cell style and use of library of analog macro cells.
